Manaus / Presidente Figueiredo / Waterfall / Terra Floresta Reserve
Departing Manaus in the morning, you will start this adventure by taking our transfer from your hotel or airport to Amazon Emotions’ Terra Floresta private reserve located just outside the township of Presidente Figueiredo, northern Amazon. During this two-hour journey, you will witness the vegetation change from colonized deforested areas to virgin rainforest. On your way to the lodge, we will visit one of the refreshing waterfalls that this area is known for. The hike to the waterfall takes 10 minutes, and the landscape is beautiful – with moss-covered trees, bromelias and orchids everywhere. This trail ends with a spectacular waterfall. Leaving the waterfall, you will also have the chance to see beautiful local crafts, tapestries, books, jewelry and other one-of-a-kind souvenirs at the Waimiri Atrorari’s indigenous store, located in the small town of Presidente Figueiredo. You’ll arrive at Our Jungle House with a warm welcome and plenty of time to take in the view, calmly settle in and meet for an orientation lunch with our team. Tucked in the world’s richest rainforest, our family owned and operated venture allows us to share the wonders of the Amazon with visitors while preserving the environment. Our lodge is hand-built and crafted from fallen hardwood trees. Wildlife abounds on this private rainforest reserve, which includes over 150 different bird species, along with spider monkeys, howler monkeys, coati, brocket deer, tamandua anteaters, peccaries and the elusives cats: jaguar, puma and ocelot. A top attraction is the morpho butterfly, which is a vivid blue color with shiny wings that reflect the light, making them easy to spot amidst the jungle canopy. Meals are prepared with fresh local ingredients, with over 125 types of organic tropical fruit grown on the estate. On a hike through the grounds, we'll examine a wide array of exotic fruit trees, and, if certain fruits are in season, we may get to taste some unfamiliar varieties. An in-depth rainforest h

Walking Expedition Through Terra Floresta Reserve
We commence our adventure with a walking expedition through Amazon Emotions’ Terra Floresta private reserve. At every turn, our guides reveal the secrets of the rainforest, helping spot creatures we would never see on our own given the amazing camouflage of so many masterfully adapted species. Where dry ground exists, step ashore for rainforest walks, keeping an eye out for a host of birds: large-billed terns, laughing falcons, gray tanagers, snowy egrets, horned screamers, tiger herons, short-tailed parrots, parakeets and perhaps the flashy scarlet macaw. This private ecological reserve focuses on conservation, environmental education, and training in sustainable land use and resource production. Trails through primary rainforest reveal a wide variety of plants and animals in their natural habitat. Venture out into the jungle with your local guide for the opportunity to spot unusual insects and animals. Help to find as many species as possible using your smartphone technology and iNaturalist, collecting photographs about living things as part of a BioBlitz. High quality data uploaded to iNaturalist become part of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, an open source database used by scientists and policy makers around the world. Our hope is to plant seeds of appreciation and awareness that will help protect these endangered environments.
