After the breakfast transfer to Kandy and en-route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is home to 84 elephants and open to the public, they are being cared for, fed and trained by the wildlife authorities. The best time to visit is during the feeding times when one will have the opportunity of seeing the baby elephants being bottle-fed. After the breakfast day tour to Nuwara Eliya:- Ramboda Falls: Ramboda Falls is 109 m (358 ft) high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Hakgala Botanical Garden: The Gardens (27ha) were established in 1860 as an experimental Cinchona plantation from which the anti-malarial drug quinine is derived. Subsequently the gardens were used for experiments in acclimatizing temperate-zone plants to life in tropics. Today Hakgala's gardens of roses, shrubs, ferns & montane woodland are delightfully located in salubrious environment, with small streams running across & wooden bridges built over them with birds flying all over. It passes through the wet zone of Sri Lanka opening into the large Madhu Lagoon on its way to the Indian Ocean. The Turtle Hatchery Kosgoda: Sea Turtle Conservation Project was established to protect the Sri Lankan turtle from extinction. Kosgoda is a prime turtle nesting site and the project engages the local fishing community in its efforts to conserve turtles by monitoring their activity and conserving nesting sites.
