Hanoi – Phia Thap
This adventurous journey begins as you depart from your hotel in Hanoi at 7:30 AM. You drive up and pass through some highways, mountain pass of the North East part of Vietnam toward Cao Bang. Lunch break at around 1:00 PM. You continue our afternoon ride for about 2 hours before setting off on a beautiful hike. This trek starts from Ma Phuc pass into the Phia Thap – the incense making village, known as home of the Nung. You have chance to contemplate Cao Bang’s exotic scenery of endless limestone mountain, rice paddy field dotted with traditional houses. Upon arrival, walk around the village to have a talk with the locals and learn about their tradition and well-preserved craft skills before having dinner with the host family and embracing the culture differences. Stay overnight in the traditional house of the Nung. Driving distance: 295 km Trekking Distance: about 6 km Trail Difficulty: 3/5

Phia Thap – Quay Son
Have breakfast before saying good bye to your host. Today, you trek through various traditional craft villages. First is Lan Duoi which is famous for bamboo and rattan products. From here continue walking to Lung Ri village, the village making traditional clay roof tiles. Picnic lunch on the way. In the afternoon, continue trekking to home of Nung An people - Phuc Sen iron smith village where iron are used to make diverse items from Vietnam traditional agricultural hand tools to daily items. Then car transfer to Quay Son homestay where you stay the night. Distance: 9 – 10 km Trail Difficulty: 3/5

Quay Son – Khuoi Ki
Another great trekking day passing villages, rivers, water mills and paddy fields, with spectacular view along the way. Lunch at local home at 12:00 PM before your visit to home of the Tay ethnic minority. We arrive in Khuoi Ki village. Take a peek into their house and have a chat with local people over dinner to understand the differences among different ethnic groups. Distance: 18 km (about 6 hours) Trail Difficulty: 3/5 Inclusion: Transfer, guide, all meals, homestay, permit

Khuoi Ki - Nguom Ngao
Breakfast and wander around this beautiful village, stopping to greet friendly and curious locals along the way. Whole morning trekking through some beautiful limestone cliffs, villages and the enormous Nguom Ngao limestone grotto with stalactites of various shapes formed by the Mother Nature. Lunch at local home. In the afternoon, we have an option of visiting the untouched part of cave ecology in Cao Bang – Nguom Lung Niec cave. If you choose to do this untouched caving expedition, please inform our travel consultant about your preference. Special equipment are needed such as water proof shoes, caving gloves, head lamp, etc. Overnight in Ban Gioc hotel. Distance: 12 km Trail Difficulty: 4/5 Inclusion: Transfer, guide, entrance fee, all meals, hotel, supporter and equipment for untouched caving expedition.

Ban Gioc Waterfall – Hanoi
Early morning visit to Ban Gioc waterfall – the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia with a short local boat ride for a well-earned dip before breakfast. Towel off and drive back to Hanoi at 9:00 AM. Visit Ethnology museum in Thai Nguyen on our way back to Hanoi to learn about the ethnic cultures in Vietnam. Arrive back to Hanoi around 5:00 PM.
