Awaken before sunrise for an early pickup from your accommodation in Cusco. Settle in for a scenic bus ride through the Andean highlands, heading toward the traditional village of Lares.

Relaxation: Soothing Hot Springs

On arrival in Lares Town (2,900 m), reward yourself with a rejuvenating soak in the renowned hot springs (optional, extra cost). Let the steaming mineral waters melt away any travel fatigue, preparing you for the adventure ahead.

The Trek Begins: Ascent to Wakawasi

Hiking duration: approx. 6 hours (14 km)

Venture along a zigzagging mountain trail, climbing steadily higher into the breathtaking Andes. Pass through remote valleys while marveling at dramatic glaciers and spotting wildlife unique to the region. Take in panoramic views with every step as you approach the welcoming village of Wakawasi (3,850 m).

Cultural Immersion: Meeting Local Communities

Arrive in Wakawasi, where you'll have the rare opportunity to engage with local families living in harmony with nature. Experience their warm hospitality and learn about their time-honored traditions in this tranquil Andean settlement.

Crossing Ipsayccocha Pass to Patacancha Wonders

Ipsayccocha Pass Ascent

Begin your trek upward, winding through mountain trails for approximately 4 exhilarating hours. The landscape transforms dramatically, with panoramic vistas unfolding as you approach the breathtaking Ipsayccocha Pass (4,400m). Pause at the summit for a peaceful moment surrounded by jagged peaks and endless sky.

Lakeside Lunch at Ipsaycocha

Descend for about 40 minutes to a tranquil lakeside—your lunch spot for the day. Savor a delicious meal while gazing across the shimmering water, the perfect backdrop to recharge for the journey ahead.

Trail to Patacancha Village

Continue your trek for another 3 hours, traversing serene valleys and highland communities as you make your way to Patacancha (3,800m). The trail is alive with the sights and sounds of traditional Andean farming life.

Evening Camp in Patacancha

Set up camp surrounded by grazing llamas and alpacas, with terraced fields and native crop plantations all around. Enjoy dinner and the camaraderie of your group under a sky ablaze with stars.

Trek to Ollantaytambo (Approx. 4 hours/12 km)

Stride through breathtaking Andean valleys as you journey towards Ollantaytambo. Witness quaint villages, terraced hillsides, and panoramic landscapes that make every step memorable.

Lunch in Ollantaytambo

Rest and recharge with a tasty lunch in this ancient, cobblestoned Inca town, rich with history and charm.

Train to Aguas Calientes

Board a scenic train bound for Aguas Calientes. Watch the lush jungle and dramatic cliffs pass by as you get closer to Machu Picchu.

Explore Aguas Calientes

Once you arrive, settle into your hotel. If time permits, wander the vibrant streets lined with bustling shops, lively cafes, and cozy spots perfect for unwinding.

Sunrise Journey to Machu Picchu

05:30 am – Begin your day bright and early with a scenic 25-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. As you arrive, witness the mysterious citadel emerge beneath the dissipating morning mist—a magical sight as the ancient stones start to glow in the soft sunlight.

Guided Exploration of the Lost City

Approx. 6:00 am - 8:00 am – Embark on a captivating two-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu. Learn the remarkable history, hidden meanings, and engineering feats of the Inca civilization while you wander terraces, temples, and plazas surrounded by breathtaking Andes vistas.

Solo Adventures & Optional Huayna Picchu Climb

8:00 am onwards – Enjoy your own time to explore. Seek out hidden corners, soak in the awe-inspiring views, or—if pre-booked—challenge yourself with a climb up the iconic Huayna Picchu peak for a bird's-eye perspective of the ancient city (additional cost).

Return to Aguas Calientes & Local Market Visit

Head back to Aguas Calientes by bus, with time to browse the bustling local marketplace near the train station. Savor fresh snacks or find unique souvenirs before your journey continues.

Scenic Ride Back to Cusco

Transfer from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo by train, then board a bus to return to Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm at Plaza San Francisco. From here, make your own way to your next accommodation, heart full of unforgettable memories.
