Ha Noi – Mai Chau
In the morning, gather up at the Old Quarter to start your journey to Mai Chau. On the way, you’ll have a short break on Thung Khe Pass to soak up the spectacular view of the whole Mai Chau Valley from afar.
After about 3.5 hours of moving, we’ll arrive in Lac Village – where your homestay is situated. Enjoy a local lunch here, then check-in and take a rest in your room. Next, hop on your bicycles, we’ll explore Chieu Cave – an amazingly shaped complex that’s known for its impressive 1000-step staircase. You can also admire the picturesque scenery of Mai Chau here.
Continue your journey with an exciting cycle trip around Mai Chau. Prepare to immerse in nature, get lost in the middle of vast green rice paddies, and tour lovely ethnic villages around the area. This is also a great chance to learn about the ethnic Thai culture, their daily lives as well as their amazing weaving technique.
In the evening, meet up at a rustic stilt house for dinner. Taste luscious ethnic cuisine, share a jug of “ruou can” alcohol with the villagers, and maybe join them in a graceful traditional dance.

Mai Chau – Pu Luong
Wake up in the bucolic atmosphere of Mai Chau, admire the beautiful sunrise and have a light breakfast. Afterward, we’ll be on our way to Pu Luong Nature Reserve, which is approximately 50 km from Mai Chau. Pu Luong is home to the Thai and Muong ethnic groups and features remarkable biodiversity with over 1,000 species of plants and animals.
If it’s Thursday or Sunday, our first stop will be Pho Doan Market – the liveliest Etnich market in the area. Otherwise, we will head straight to Dong Dieng village and embark on a high-spirited trek around the Nature Reserve. This trek will take you through quaint ethnic villages, terraced paddies with imposing mountains as backgrounds, huge wooden water wheels, and other highlights of Pu Luong.
The trek starts with a walk into Kho Muong Village and the mysterious Bat Cave there, then ends at the cascading Hieu Waterfall set at Hieu Village. In the middle of this excursion, you’ll have a while to ease off at noon while enjoying prominent Pu Luong delicacies for lunch.
Late afternoon, move to Pu Luong Ecolodge at Don Village and have a delicious dinner inside its restaurant. Spend the evening chilling beside the swimming pool or hanging out in the bar. Stay the night here.
