place Mexico City Food Tour

Discover the finest culinary secrets of the historical center of Mexico City, known only by the locals. Here is a city where the ancient traditions and unique flavours of Mexican cuisine can be found. Our passionate foodies immerse you in a world of historic streets, elegant mansions and charming plazas while telling entertaining stories and enigmatic legends that make this capital city so magical.The meeting point for the tour is Restaurant Oaxaca (Luis Moya 59) and you will need to make your way there on your own.On your walking tour, explore the delicious flavours of the diverse cuisine of Mexico´s many different ethnic groups - from the perspective of your local guide who knows the markets and most essential restaurants. Mexicans love to eat and it is an important part of their culture. Your stops on the tour will include Mexico's oldest candy shop, the best seafood stand in the historic center, the finest cheese and sausages in the country, one of the city's oldest and most traditional cantinas, the exotic San Juan market and a small Oaxacan snack. For the rest of the day you will have a full belly and after saying goodbye to your guide you will make your way back to your hotel on your own (not included). Important note: The tour is a walking tour (approx. 4 kilometers). We recommend weatherproof clothing and some cash for any drinks as well as a taxi back to the hotel if needed.

Day 3

place Mexico City- Nevado de Toluca- Morelia

In the morning, you will be picked up and taken to the 4,680m high Nevado de Toluca volcano which is also called Xinantecatl. Once you have reached the Nevada de Toluca base camp you will begin your ascent of approximately 600 meters. After about 3-4 hours of hiking (there are more technical routes depending on your level of experience) you will reach the summit and be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Explore the unique landscape of the volcanoes summit and its crater lakes and relax in the warm sunshine before beginning your descent. With a little luck, you might even be able to see the nearby volcano Popcatepetl in the distance. After a 3-hour descent, you will continue to Morelia.

Day 4

place Morelia- Pátzcuaro

Today, explore the city of Morelia which is the capital of Michoacán and probably the most aristocratic of all the colonial cities in Mexico. In 1991 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its outstandingly well-kept buildings and donwtown. Explore the centro historico with its breathtakingly beautiful Cathedral built with rose stone, the impressive mansions and the well-established University. Morelia is said to be a true gem among the colonial cities. Enjoy the authentic atmosphere of Morelia along with a delicious local lunch (not included) before heading to Patzcuaro where you can enjoy a quiet evening.

Day 5

Today, explore the adorably rustic colonial village of Pátzcuaro. Enjoy the centro historico with its relaxing plazas, impressive churches and loam houses with tiled roofs. Visit the most important landmarks of the city and if you are travelling on the right day even a typical Mexican market. Take a boat over to the Isla Janítzio that is situated in the sickle-shaped Patzcuaro Lake. The island is famous for a 40-meter high monument of Morelos as well as its colourful graveyard and Day of the Dead celebrations. Stop at the local market to try the regional ingredients and specialties of this beautiful state.

Day 6

place Pátzcuaro- Tzintzuntzan- Santa Clara del Cobre- Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo

Today, stop at the unique archaeological site of Tzintzuntzan which was founded in 1325. This site was home to the powerful Purepecha who managed to defeat multiple Aztec invasion attempts and maintain their stronghold in the region. Next, stop at the magical town Santa Clara del Cobre which is famous for its beautiful copper artesenia. You will have time to visit a workshop and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the Pacific coast. Stop in Ixtapa which is popular with local tourists, but never achieved the fame of other beach towns such as Acapulco or Cancun. Explore the main plaza and pier before continuing on the quieter fishing village of Zihuatanejo which is Nahuatl means "land of women".

Day 7

Relax on the beach to the soothing sounds of the crashing waves. Mexico´s Pacific coast is famous for its stark contrasting rock and ocean as well as the magnificent sunsets which paint the sky beautiful shades of pink and orange. Enjoy some delicious seafood and explore the bays and virgin beaches in the area.

place Zihuatanejo- Airport Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo

Enjoy the day on the golden sand, soaking up the warm sun. According to your flight´s departure, take a taxi (not included) on your own to the Airport in Zihuatanejo. ADIOS Y HASTA PRONTO EN MEXICO !!  It is time to say “Adiós” to this beautiful, colorful and friendly country with its welcoming people.
