Day 1

place Fes – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Our 3 day Desert Excursion from Fes to Marrakech begins at 8 a.m. with a drive via Azrou, where you may view Barbary apes in the Middle Atlas forest. Lunch will be served in Midelt, the apple capital at the foot of Ayachi Mountain. We carry on via the Tizi-n-Talremt pass to the Ziz Valley, which is famous for its palm palms and the length of the oasis. There are several ksars, or tiny villages of individual homes, along the route. From here, we travel to Er Rachidia and then to Erfoud, which is known for its date festival and fossils. Then we'll head to Merzouga, where you'll meet your camel guide and ride into the dunes to your bivouac (camp). Dinner and sleeping arrangements will be made under the nomad tent. The journey will begin with a 1:30 minute walk into the desert. We will spend the night in an equipped camp in the midst of the Sahara, which is a fantastic chance to snap beautiful photographs of the sunset and dawn. When you arrive at the camp, you will go to the high dunes to view the sunset. It will be a wonderful night when the sky is clear and the stars sparkle and shine brightly. There will be a delicious meal cooked over a campfire, and you will spend the night in nomad tents. At the morning, you will ride the camels back to Merzouga, where you will have breakfast and shower in Our Merzouga hotel.

We'll stop for lunch in the Kasbah before continuing on to Marrakesh through the famed Tizi-in-Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains.
