Today you will go for a long walk along ‘the Three Bays’ with their emerald green waters and deserted white sandy beaches. Of course, there’s plenty of time for a splash. Our cooks will prepare a delicious lunch on the beach. After the walk or in the evening, there is still enough time to explore the bustling city center. To Ankarana
On your way to Ankarana NP, you will stop at the Red Tsingy, a spectacular rock formation of red laterite formed by erosion of the Irodo River. After a visit here, you’ll continue to Ankarana. Millions of years ago, the north-western side of Madagascar was pushed upwards from the sea. Limestone was subject to winds and rain for years on end and became karst, resulting in an impressive razor-sharp karst rock sea named Tsingy in the local language. You have a choice between different walks in this amazing landscape. A short walk (still some climbing is involved) will take you through the ‘small Tsingy’ passing by a bat cave housed in a natural cathedral. You could also choose for the full day option in the ‘big Tsingy’, which you’ll explore thoroughly in the presence of an experienced, trained guide. You’ll spend two nights in the luxurious Ankarana Lodge.
