Exploring Otavalo
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel for starting your beautiful day connecting the nature and the culture, in the way, you will have the chance to taste a typical fruit chirimoya, and also you will taste delicious bizcochos, typical cookie. Otavalo is a beautiful town, that it is known for its crafts, you will have time to buy some souvenirs, then you will visit the Peguche waterfall, it is located in Peguche community, just 10 minutes northwest of the town of Otavalo. Peguche Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall of 18 metres high, formed by the river of the same name, which starts at Lake San Pablo. The waterfall is one of the most important tourist attractions nearby Otavalo. Afterwards, you will visit the nearby village of Cotacachi. This quiet town is very famous all over Ecuador for its good quality leather. You will find many shops selling different items like belts, jackets, bags, etc. Do not hesitate to shop while you are there as the prices of the leather are lower than back home. You will head to the Cuicocha Lake, located twelve km from Cotacachi. Cuicocha is a young volcano that erupted 4,500 years ago which covered a large area of north-western South America with ashes. This intense activity continued until about 1,300 years ago. The lake is formed in a former crater of the Cotacachi volcano and has two islands inside of it called Teodoro Wolf and José María Yerovi. From there, you can walk up to the viewpoint for some nice pictures, hike near the lake or jump on one of the small boats for a tour around the lake. Adventure in Mindo
Mindo is a quiet town located in the province of Pichincha, located at an altitude of 1.250 m in northwestern Ecuador. In this area two of the most biologically diverse eco-regions in the world meet: the Chocoan lowlands and the tropical Andes. Mindo is known for the cloud forest that surrounds it, but also for its waterfalls and unique diversity in bird species which counts roughly 350 bird species native to the area. Therefore, it is a great place for birdwatching and an incredibly relaxing place to spend a few days hiking or enjoying the sound of nature. Many activities available to do, but today you will make the visit to the waterfalls, Orchid Farm, theTarabita of 530 metres that shortens the walking time, gives you the emotions of vertigo of height and a complete appreciation of the forest. In addition to seven waterfalls, where you can observe the flora and fauna of the cloud forest of Mindo, visit the sanctuary of the waterfalls. This takes about 1.5 hours on self-guided trails through the forest. In the afternoon you will back to Quito but on the way you will make a stop to see the Itiñán Museum Be in the middle of the World and enjoy the different experiments in the Intiñan museum. Try to balance an egg on a nail or watch water spin opposite ways, and while some of the exhibits might be staged, the concepts behind the gravity and physics are curiously entertaining. In addition to exhibits about the Equator, the Intiñan Museum also offers a look at Ecuador's culture, from the biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands to Amazonian tribes. A true experience! City Tour Cultural
This tour starts in the Historic Center of Quito. During the tour you will visit emblematic places, your guide will use all of his knowledge of the city to take you through colonial streets and other places of interest, such as an authentic local market and find more than 250 stalls where you can buy fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, herbs, meat and seafood. At this market, we will try some of the typical Ecuadorian fruits. Visit one of the most beautiful churches in Lantin America which is Iglesia de la Compañia the architecture of the church was inspired by the Gesú church in Rome and the pillars are exact copies of the pillars that were made by Bernini in the Vatican. This beautiful tourist place in Quito is an architectural jewel in the best preserved historical centre of Latin America. The church La Compania, has been catalogued by UNESCO among the hundred most important World Heritage Site Monuments in the world. After an integral restoration, which took 12 years, the church is a magnificent example of the extraordinary artistic ability of the Ecuadorian artisans! On the way to the emerald of Cotopaxi province
Your day will start travelling along the volcano avenue, till arrival to one of the treasures near Quito, Quilotoa lake! The Quilotoa Lake is a volcanic crater lake that, according to geologists, is 250 meters deep. The lake is beautiful and a must see in Ecuador. It has a special green color due to dissolved minerals. It is possible to hike the rim trail in about 6 hours. It is also possible to descend to the lake (in about 30 minutes) and rent canoes and kayaks. The walk up takes about an hour but it is possible to hire horses to make your way up. Active Cotopaxi
This tour takes place on the Avenue of the volcanoes, you will be transferred to Cotopaxi area to visit Cotopaxi National Park. The Cotopaxi is an active volcano and its last eruption was in October 2015 (mainly ashes). on a clear day, it can be seen from several provinces of Ecuador. The majestic snow-covered peak will always be a lasting image for tourists, reminding them of Ecuador and its beautiful landscapes. The park is home to wild horses, llamas, foxes, deer, Andean condors, and bespectacled bears. It's a good idea to take a loop around Limpiopungo Lagoon to get aclimated to the altitude before going further to the volcano: Together with your guide you will explore this magnific National Park. After an incredible visit, you will continue to Papallacta area, where your cozy accommodation will wait for a relaxed night. This tour starts in the Papallacta hotel where your English driver guide, will pick you up to visit the Antisana reserve. The Antisana is a majestic and mysterious volcano, in the Eastern mountain range. A protected area in whose interior there are moors and eastern Andean forests. The volcanic activity and the evolution have created impressive landscapes and a very diverse wildlife in its territory. As a mirror of the volcano is the Mica lagoon, from which part of the water of the city of Quito comes. After this incredible visit, your day continues back to your hotel. Today you will have the morning off to enjoy your hotel. At noon your English driver guide will transfer you to Quito. After arrive to the city you will have a last visit to lear about the process of the famouse Ecuadorian rose. At your arrival to Sacha rose, you will have the oportunity to walk throught the green houses where you will see a stuning varienty of large stem roses; guided throught the production, classification and packing a process.
