Today, you will be picked up at Lhasa Airport/Railway station and transferred to your accommodation where you will have time to get settled in. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure chilling in the hotel or begin your adventure by exploring the city on your own but try not to overtax yourself. The first day’s well-rest is crucial to acclimatize the high altitude. Remember to drink lots of water, eat light, and not to shower if you can help it.

Day 2

place Day 2: Lhasa, China

Visit the Lhasa Suburb (B/D)

After breakfast, head towards the Drepung Monastery that was once one of the world’s largest monasteries. Drepung means "rice heap" in Tibetan, a reference to the great number of white monastic buildings that once stood on the hillside. In the afternoon, you will visit another great monastery, the Sera Monastery, meaning "wild rose" in Tibetan as the hill behind was once covered with roses. Learn more about its architecture structure and Buddhism and get the chance to see monks debating. You will then be invited to a welcome dinner to introduce you to your fellows with who you are going to travel.
